Addiction
to Lorcet and Drug Treatment
Similar to Vicodin and Lortab, Lorcet,
a prescription brand is more powerful dose than morphine.
Sold under various prescription brands, it is available
in tablet, capsule, and liquid form. Each tablet contains
acetaminophen (Tylenol) and hydrocodone that often relieves
pain by combining Tylenol and hydrocodone. The presence
of hydrocodone makes Lorcet a narcotic and is susceptible
to addiction.
The Opioid works on the brain and pain receptors to block
pain, thus reducing the pain and eventually making users
habituated to it. Lorcet leaves the user drowsy and sluggish.
Nausea and weakness is also a common side effect of taking
Lorcet, as is lack of mental focus, dry-mouth, constipation,
and slow breathing. Likewise, it also activates the brains
reward system making the user feel euphoria and this can
often lead to psychological dependence on Lorcet.
As there is higher possibility of being habituated to Lorcet,
one should only take it under close supervision esp. if
he/she has an alcohol or drug addiction problem. Before
taking medication, it is always advisable to let the doctor
know if he/she has kidney disease; liver disease; asthma;
urinary retention; an enlarged prostate; hypothyroidism;
seizures epilepsy; gallbladder disease; a head injury; or
Addison's disease.
Similarly, pregnant or breast-feeding women and younger
children under 18 years of age or older people above 60
years of age should take extra caution.
If one continues to take Lorcet
then he/she may soon get down to addiction. The side effects
of Lorcet addiction can be frightening. A person may experience
any of the following: an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing;
closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or
face; or hives); slow, weak breathing; seizures; cold, clammy
skin; severe weakness or dizziness; unconsciousness; yellowing
of the skin or eyes; or unusual fatigue, bleeding, or bruising.
Less serious side effects may be more likely to occur.
If dependency on Lorcet has taken over your life and caused
you to act out in ways you would never previously imagined,
please take help from your doctor, or seek some addiction
treatment immediately.

Detox Program
Detoxification is a long-term treatment procedure where
patients are put under severe opiate withdrawal symptoms
associated with detoxification while under anesthesia. The
Detox program relieves the body of all opiates in approximately
4-6 hours. Thereafter, the patient is made to undergo an
appropriate addiction treatment program. Today, there are
several reputed Detox centers, conducting opiate treatment
programs, which fit the needs of the patient. Patients who
undergo Rapid Opiate Detoxification have a much higher chances
of remaining clean if they enter a chemical dependency treatment
program after the Detox procedure.
Behavioral Therapy
Behavioral therapies can include counseling, psychotherapy,
support groups, or family therapy. For a long-term success,
medical therapy alone hardly ever helps, thus effective
treatment of such drug addiction requires plenty of attention.
Medical treatment should be combined with concurrent behavioral
therapies and provision for social services.
